The numbers are in, and this Christmas marks one of the highest grossing Christmas weekends at the movies of all time!
A reported $91 million was earned at the box office on Christmas day, up over $15 mil from 2008′s earnings of $75 million on the 25th!
Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, brought in an impressive $24.8 million on Friday, beating out the numbers for Avatar, which only earned $23.5 million Christmas day.

Rounding out the top 3, Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel managed to earn $14.5 million on Friday, with an expected total of $43 mil by the holiday weekend’s close!
